Why did the Federalists first oppose the Bill of Rights?

Because the states wanted to declare the own rights of the individuals, not the constitution.

to make changes to the constitution and to balance the power of the individual rights and the government.

It must be proposed by 2/3 of BOTH houses,or by 2/3 of state legislatures, then must be approved by 3/4 of the states.

because it is flexible to the time, social, political, and economic issues as the people change.

Why was the case of Marbury vs. Madison so important?

it was important because is challenged a law that was passed by Congress and signed by the president. It set the future for the Supreme Court to decided whether the laws were constitutional or not.

What was the final ruling for the Marbury vs. Madison case?

That the Judiciary Act of 1789 was unconstitutional because it gave powers to the Supreme Court that the constitution did not intend the Supreme Court to have.

Why was the term of the Justice important?

It made justices above political pressure => the justices wouldn’t have to worry about being reappointed or re-elected. They could also make rulings without having to upset anyone.

They determine whether the constitutionality of the case was valid or not. They are also responsible to deal with issues dealing with foreign ambassadors and dignitaries.

to make sure that criminals could not flee to another state to avoid prosecution.

What did the Fugitive Slave Clause state?

the slaves who escaped had to be returned to their masters even i they were found in a non slave state.

Who has the power to create new states in all territories?

Congress

Why was the inclusion of the federal gov. putting down internal rebellions put in?

as a result of shay’s rebellion.

What was the one thing the writers of the Constitution wanted to make clear to foreign countries? (or others)

that the debts they owed to those people would still stay no matter the new document.
