One of the ethical dilemmas that can be caused for employees that implement General electric is the idea to choose between sticking to one’s business culture and changing one’s own business culture. This is because in order to achieve sustained productivity in a company cultural change must occur. “People must start asking themselves key questions like how well am I doing and how fast am I producing right now in comparison to other companies out there.” (Welch).Not how well am I doing this year compared to last year at this same time. A good example is changing from working five hours a day under minimal supervision to working ten hours under strict supervision in the same organization.

Another dilemma that may arise is work vs family ethical dilemma. According to general electric productivity a good employee is the one who has vision. “Good leaders create visions, articulate visions, they also passionately own the visions and normally relentlessly work to ensure that the visions are achieved to completion.” (Welch). A good example of how an ethical dilemma here that may arise is having to choose between spending time with your family and assigning your visions at work as an employee i.e. to secure promotion etc. more time. This dilemma must be answered within the first few weeks of implementations of implementation of career visions.

 

Worthwhile work ethical dilemma is another dilemma is when an employee considers a few things about his work. A good example is when changing jobs or duties we consider the job market, our skills and also passion. Is this duty I am being assigned worth my time? Do I have the skills and do I have passion? Such a dilemma can arise when restructuring occurs and one is assigned a different role in the organization than he previously did. “a company can boost  productivity through restructuring, “restructuring was one of the principals he believed that can boost productivity( Welch).

Another  ethical dilemma is going with the crowd since jack welch believed in simplicity and some people find it hard to be simple for fear of being seen as simple minded. An example is when everyone from the manager to all the other employees know the organization goals this reduces complexity of the managers as everyone knows what is expected from everyone even from managers.He personally said it himself that this wasn’t easy, “you can’t believe how hard it is to be simple and how much people fear to be simple, and they worry that if they are simple they will be seen as simple minded.” (Welch)

Another ethical dilemma is being a positive change agent. As we have seen change is an inevitable part of general electric implementations hence, so a good example is the employees having to choose will they be positive agents who take change positively or resistant and negative agents to changes in the organization. “A company cannot sustain high productivity without cultural change.”(Welch)

Another dilemma that may have risen is the concept of carriers and common good. This is the factor that propels individuals to choose whether they should take their skill outside work in order to provide assistance i.e. an employee organizing life skills programs to benefit humanity. This can be due to the extra time created by reducing managerial positions except C.E.Os Position. This reduces formal processes hence saves time. Extra time can be used to take up such initiatives. “We used to go from C.E.O to sector to groups to businesses now we go from C.E.O direct to businesses.” (Welch).
